A Bill Blackburn Beaverkill -79 bamboo fly rod. This is a 7'9", 2-piece, built for a #5 line. Serial #3210. The Beaverkill-79 has Bills trademark powerful progressive action and is a very versatile dry fly rod. The rod is straight with no set. Flamed dark cane. The main wraps are tan with small black edges at the grip end and ferrules. The step ferrules are oxidized jet black. The stripping guide is black. The grip is 6" long and shaped to a blunt cigar. The cap and ring seat are oxidized and the mortised spacer is a piece of possibly cherry. Non-original cloth bag and an original black crackle painted tube with brass fittings.

William “Bill” Blackburn worked under the direction of Tom Morgan at Tom Morgan Rodsmiths from 1999, setting up the bamboo operation and making the bamboo blanks that Gerri Carlson subsequently finished. Blackburn was replaced by Zac Sexton after he left at the end of 2011 setting up the W.W. Blackburn Bamboo Fly Rods out of Bozeman Montana.
